Week 3, Swim Lessons

Day 9: Since we took Friday off in memory of the fourth, V had a nice three day weekend to forget everything he'd been taught. Thankfully, it looks like hte break was actually good for him. He was able to float by himself for a good four seconds. Grante, the instructor was helping out a little with some underwater currents ; ) but he is getting much more comfortable. I like ot think that our practicing in the tub may have helped...he now will lay in the tub on his back with about 3 inches of water and actually relax without needing to hold onto me. He'll try to get up every once in a while but he'll relax in between. Swim float swim - here we come!!!

Day 10: Tough day. tough day....I mean, he was able to float a lot more this time and the first half of the class was just awesome, but then the second half got ugly once Fi realized he was relying on her presence to float. So he ended up swallowing a lot of air and water. Ended up a little graphic at the end when he was on the side of the pool...sigh...oh well, at least he was back to normal as soon as he rid himself of all the water and leftover lunch :( We will see what tomorrow brings...

Day 11: Vincent floated much better today - like 20 seconds or so! He started and ended with some crazy behavior but once he chilled out he was able to float...if we can just get him to get over throwing his little tantrums about the situation ; ) we'd be in business ; )

Day 12: We continue to see progress. He didn't float for as long but he had more floats overall ; ) Hopefully, we remember to video him tomorrow so that we can document his hard work.

Day 13: Much better. He's not fighting the teacher as much any more. I am hoping that this next week be our week ; ) Here is a video of his 13th lesson. Word of caution to those who are faint of heart or are grandparents - this is not that much fun to watch. If ithelps any, just these 13 lessons have made him much more water smart - he closes his mouth when he goes underwater and, surprisingly, he stil LOVEs playing in the water ; ) In fact, after this lesson he kept wanting to go back into the pool!!!
