Day 1: We had to print out the BUDS sheets (Bowel, urinations, Diet, and Sleep) that we will be using to track everything from now until the end of the class. They use this info to see if he is responding favorably to the training. I guess it can stress them out sometimes. Class is at 6 PM, so I'll update more later!...
Class was good. His instructor has some horses in the back so he even got to see some real live horses!! For his first class, she dunked him like the little dough nut that he is. I think he went under like 20 times!! He did really well. A little crying and some good strong stiff arming on his part. In fact, she started off saying she loved the nice strong big kids and then ended up saying he was a little too strong since he kept trying to turn around to ask us to save him ; ) Overall, it was a quick 10 minutes. He was actually anticipating the dunks near the end and going ahead end putting his face in first before she'd submerged him. Much better than expected - especially after hearing some of the other kids before him. We were afraid our sympathetic crier was going to break down but, between the golden doodle and the horses he was a happy little man. He even showed his instructor, Fi, how he can moo and neigh at the end of the session ; )
Day 2: V got dunked several times and then we practiced having him go to the ladder. Unfortunately, he would grab the ladder and then turn around and try to go back to the instructor...silly boy!!
Day 3: V did much better. He didn't try to turn away from the ladder at all. Fi would sit him on the side of the pool and then guide him into the water and he would actually kick the 2 feet or so to the ladder. And, to top it off, he actually wasn't crying for the second half of the lesson. Woohooo!!
Day 4: no class due to rain :(
V can't wait - he's dancing ; ) and running all of the time...
